Michael Braverman

Michael Braverman, Senior Managing Director, is a CPA, CGMA and CFE. With more than 35 years of professional experience, Mr. Braverman primarily advises law firms and their clients, public and private entities, private equity firms, investment bankers, independent sponsors, lenders, and investors.

He has served as an expert witness, consultant, and neutral arbitrator in matters related to M&A purchase price and related disputes, damages and lost profits associated with commercial litigation, financial reporting and restatements, accounting/auditing malpractice, the application of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (“GAAP”) and Generally Accepted Auditing Standards (“GAAS”), and SEC, PCAOB, DOJ and other regulatory enforcement matters.

Michael has led forensic/fraud investigations for small, emerging growth entities up through global, multinational organizations, and regularly performs financial reviews for professional athletes, entertainers, and ultra-high net worth families. Michael has led teams on over 200 buy and sell side M&A financial due diligence assignments and Quality of Earnings (QofE) engagements.

Prior to forming BFA, Mr. Braverman was a Partner and held roles at global firms as the North American Leader of Financial Investigations and Dispute Advisory Services, and as the National Leader of M&A Transaction Advisory Services. Earlier in his career, Michael was an audit and advisory services Partner providing financial statement audit, merger and acquisition transaction advisory, and forensic/litigation services, spending more than 25 years with Price Waterhouse (PWC), Ernst & Young (EY), Grant Thornton, and RSM, and more than ten years as a Partner/Managing Director at global consulting firms.

During his career in public accounting, Michael led teams on financial statement audits of domestic and multinational entities, public offerings, private placements, acquisition and divestiture transactions, SEC matters, forensic investigations and other special projects. His clients included Fortune 500 companies as well as start-up ventures and private equity/hedge firms in a variety of industries, including manufacturing, pharmaceutical/life sciences, technology, internet, entertainment, real estate, construction, service, investment funds, financial services and travel/hospitality.
